In the process of going through an extensive email overload, we've come across some hidden gems from the Uncivilized songbook, alongside images and scans from various now-defunct cell phones and apartments—we've compiled them into a 6-track, $6 digital album for today's Bandcamp Friday. The sextet of tracks includes: solo guitar renditions of Uncivilized tunes you've never heard before; sung melodies (!); a Zappa tribute dedicated to the late Sean Mair, who recorded the track and left us all too soon (RIP); a long form composition entitled "4 Part Invention" with cello, clarinet, violin and two tenor saxophones; and finally two very different versions of Uncivilized's classic banger "Re: Memory" from our first album.

Enjoyez, Mes Amis.

Uncivilized Tom New York, New York

Uncivilized is a New York-based jazz collective headed by Tom Csatari. They first appeared in 2016 with the Melted Candy EP, and followed up with a string of singles and EPs leading up to their debut full-length in 2018, Uncivilized Plays Peaks.Their music is composed, but loose. While the horns may sometimes head into free territory, it's a melodic and exuberant sound. ~Sean Westergaard, AllMusic ... more
